Dear colleagues,

The deadline for applications for Course representatives at the Student Council at Medical university “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov” – Varna for the 2018-2020 mandate was the 12th of November 2018.

Up to this moment there have been 2 (two) applications submitted in total, which are as follows:

  • Medicine (one application; a total of two quotas)

Candidate questionnaire responses:

Have you ever participated in extracurricular activities? If so, please specify their nature in 4-5 sentences! If not, please indicate what extracurricular activities you would wish to take part in!

“From the beginning of my academic studies at the Medical University Varna I have participated in research projects in the anatomy department. Additionally, I have been a contact person for exchangers in 2017 via my membership in the ASMB.

I want to expand my participation in the organization of social activities both for us medical students and the Bulgarian population via awareness and health promotion projects.”

What would you say are your best personality traits, can you work in a team?

“Working in a team is one of my personal strengths as it reflects my belief that a group of people working together can achieve amazing results both in production and organization. I have very well-developed organizational skills and can structure teams and projects very easily. In general, I am very direct and straightforward which I see as a benefit in council and community work. When working with me, people can always expect me to be reliable, punctual and open-minded. I am of a very calm and quiet nature therefore the council can count on a constant, professional and friendly participation from my side. Lastly my Bulgarian skills have reached a point after 3 years where my speech might not sound perfect but there is no need for any extra translator during the meetings which makes the co-work much more convenient.”

What are your motivations for participating in the elections?

“I have observed the relationship between the students of both the Bulgarian and international program for almost 4 years now. This relationship is not according to what I wish for our academic family thus I want to promote the interconnection between Bulgarian and international students at our University. My dream is to increase especially the cultural exchange, preparing conjoined projects and setting a base for long-lasting friendships between the two programs, which I see as quite separated currently. Additionally, this shall set a base for especially those international students that plan to stay in Bulgaria after achieving their final diploma. Furthermore, I would like to expand the community activities at the University to enrich our academic life besides all studying with joy, pleasure and memorable moments. Summed up – My intention is to work as a representative not only for my program but for all students at MU-Varna to enrich our academic life during our journey through the world of medicine.”

  • Dental Medicine (one application; a total of one quota)

Candidate questionnaire responses:

Have you ever participated in extracurricular activities? If so, please specify their nature in 4-5 sentences! If not, please indicate what extracurricular activities you would wish to take part in!

I have participated in organizing the annual orientation week of the new international freshman students as a leading member for the past three years.

What would you say are your best personality traits, can you work in a team?

“I can work in a team and I am open towards critique and/or different ideas of certain projects.”

What are your motivations for participating in the elections?

“I actively want to shape our students’ life here at MU-Varna. By being a connecting link between our students body and the head of university, I would like to help in creating a strong community within our course and to constantly introduce new ideas concerning our life here in Bulgaria. Since I consider myself an open-minded person and I enjoy contact with other people, I wholeheartedly would organize events and meetings in your favour and communicate your critique and suggestions whenever possible. Though I grew up in a “western“ environment in Germany, I have always experienced an “eastern” mentality due to my Bulgarian roots. Therefore it is a valuable advantage that I am able to understand both cultures and mentalities and can reasonably try and help to understand and communicate both positions in order to successfully solve any given issues.”
