Assist. Prof. Krasimir Hristov, MD, our beloved and respected colleague, our lecturer and friend, passed away suddenly on the 27th of February 2017.

Dr. Hristov was a lecturer in the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology at Medical University-Varna. He started his professional career as an assistant in the Department of Pathophysiology in 1986 with scientific interests in the area of hyperbaric hypoxia, electroacupuncture and marine medicine. He has 23 publications and participations in scientific forums in the areas of hyperbaric medicine, electroacupuncture, the effects of the environmental factors. He was a member of the Bulgarian Society of Physiological Sciences, the European Society of Physiological Sciences, USB (Union of Scientists in Bulgaria), BMA (Bulgarian Medical Association), International Association of Electroacupuncture and Electrotherapeutic Studies.

Throughout the past few years he was also an important figure for the English programme students in medicine and dental medicine, teaching Pathophysiology in the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology.

The academic society lost an admired by all students, very erudite and devoted lecturer. His hard work, humanity and devotion will stay forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on the 2nd of March 2017 at 11:30 in the ritual hall at the ‘Topoli’ Cemetery.
